Five Nights at Freddy’s is a franchise that managed to create quite a bit of hype amongst gamers, even if the games themselves featured pretty simple concepts. However, the atmosphere was quite exciting, and the jump scares always seemed to catch gamers off-guard. Hence, more is only natural to follow, especially since it is pretty simple to continue a story with not much substance to begin with.

An open world adventure for the whole gang

FNaF World is an open world RPG that allows you to form parties with the Five Nights at Freddy’s characters and go on a journey to save the world. The mechanics are very similar to the ones usually used by JRPGs, which means that the combat is turn-based (in a way), the map is riddled with random encounters, and the entire thing is played from a top-down perspective.

The story revolves around Freddy and his friends again, only this time the events take place in a different world. This world is affected by the ones on top of it, however, so it is your job to clean it of bad guys and return everything to normal. You can form parties of up to four characters, each one of which has special abilities that come in handy during violent encounters. Naturally, this party can be changed whenever you want to include a new member or try a different strategy.

Multiple skills to choose from

The combat is not exactly turn-based, because both sides can attack at the same time, more or less. Each character has three abilities they can use, depending on their specialization and talent. Some can heal the party and provide them with bonuses, while others deal heavy damage with AoE attacks. There are also those that can target enemies with curses and reduce their effectiveness in battle.

As far as the graphics are concerned, the top-down view does not allow for too much detail, but it should be enough for most intents and purposes. The characters turn to 3D models during the combat mode, on the other hand, so there’s definitely something to please your eyes as well. In addition, the ability effects are quite nice, but they can also be very disorienting and confusing sometimes.

Usually, if a video game receives bad reviews (even if they don't account for otherwise mostly positive reviews), the game is often not remade or updated to address fans concerns.

Luckily for 'Five Nights at Freddy's' fans, Scott Cawthon has heard the complaints and took the steps to address them.

True to his word, creator Cawthon has updated the original 'FNAF World' RPG and made it available for free on Gamejolt. Fans can download the updated version of 'FNAF World' here.

After initially receiving many negative reviews on Steam for the first version of 'FNAF World,' Cawthon issued a formal apology and promised to update the game.

'I've been accused on rushing my games ever since FNaF 1, but I've never felt that I'd released a game too early . . . until now,' said Cawthon.

'I got too eager to show the things that were finished, that I neglected to pay attention to the things that weren't. I'm going to fix this, and I'll be updating the game with these features in the coming weeks.'

In addition to apologizing for rushing the release of 'FNAF World,' Cawthon later explained that a refund would eventually become available for those who purchased the game on Steam.

'I've also asked Valve to make it so that the game can be refunded regardless of the amount of the time it has been owned, meaning that anyone can get a refund at any time. It may take them a while to set that up, but it will be in place soon,' explained Cawthon.

The 'FNAF World' RPG is the final installment in the game portion of the 'Five Nights at Freddy's' franchise. It is the only RPG in the otherwise horror point-and-click PC game series. The games have also yielded a book and a movie adaptation has also been announced.
